CONFERENCE DESCRIPTION

Our 28th Annual Summer Conference on Pediatrics is designed for physicians, nurse practitioners, physician associates, nurses, and other allied healthcare professionals involved in the care of pediatric patients. Covering a wide array of topics, our expert faculty will discuss the latest evidence- based advancements in pediatrics, present emerging clinical data, and provide skills and strategies for application and implementation into your practice. This educational activity aims to increase learner knowledge, improve the competence and performance of all attendees, and contribute to their ability to work together as part of a coordinated healthcare team.

Topics for this year’s conference have been selected based on the educational needs underlying identified professional practice gaps. The gaps were derived from a variety of sources including evaluations and outcomes data from past participants, clinical expert input, Symposia Medicus’ online survey, and other medical and nursing data such as current clinical guidelines, research findings, literature reviews, and patient safety considerations.

An outstanding faculty has been assembled for this conference. Each faculty member was selected based on their individual area of expertise and ability to communicate current, evidence-based, and practical information to participants.

The conference format includes didactic lectures, question and answer sessions, and case studies. Following a group of lectures, the question and answer sessions allow attendees to ask the faculty critical and challenging questions about caring for patients during various pediatric situations.
 

CONFERENCE OBJECTIVES

As a result of participating in this conference, you should have increased knowledge and enhanced competence to:

  • Diagnose attention and disruptive behavior disorders in pediatric patients
  • Implement a structured approach to testing, ER referral, and managing fever in infants
  • Discuss new and old drugs of abuse used by adolescents
  • Recognize pitfalls in and recommend best treatment options for common infections and infestations in children
  • Discuss the benefits and limitations of insulin pumps and continuous glucose sensors

Conference group rates have been arranged at The Village at Palisades Tahoe. Rooms at our group rates are limited and on a first come, first served basis. By booking your lodging with Symposia Medicus, the Resort Fee charge of $48.00 per room, per night is WAIVED. Resort Fee includes (subject to change): In-room wireless internet, towels in fitness rooms & sauna area, unlimited local & toll telephone calls, board & Xbox games (borrow from the front desk), and in-room coffee & tea.

In addition, the hotel offers the following on a complimentary basis: 8 outdoor small hot tubs, 4 saunas, 3 fitness rooms, and a media room with HDTVs, DVD player, Xbox 360 consoles, and pool table.
 

Activity Tram Package at High Camp will be available for purchase online only. The link will be available online as we get closer to the conference and will be emailed to all participants. The link can be used both prior to arrival and onsite for purchase of Aerial Tram Rides. The discount is not available at the Tram box office.

The package includes: Unlimited Aerial Tram Rides for the day of purchase, hiking and walking trails, geocaching, disc golf, lawn games, an Olympic Museum, restaurants, as well as roller skating. Discounted Group Rates (via online link) for the Activity Tram Package at High Camp are: Adults (13 & older): $30/day, youth (5-12 yrs.): $15/day, and children 4 yrs. & under: free.

  • Changes to reservations, regardless of reason, made within 25 days of arrival (including changes made onsite at the conference hotel) will be charged the total original reserved stay. If changes are made before 25 days, no penalty will be assessed. Please notify Symposia Medicus of any changes.

  • Credit/Debit Card Policy: Upon check-in, the hotel requires a credit or debit card to ensure that funds are available. Holds are placed on your account for your entire stay (including $30/night for incidentals); however, the amount may be immediately deducted from your account.   • Conference cancellations must be made in writing (via email) to Symposia Medicus and a refund, less a 10% processing fee, will be given. No refunds will be made if cancellation is received after June 17, 2026; however, tuition, less a 10% processing fee, may be applied to a future Symposia Medicus conference.
     
  • Per our hotel contract, hotel reservation cancellations must be made in writing to Symposia Medicus and you will receive a full refund if emailed by May 20, 2026. Between May 21, 2026 and June 17, 2026, one night’s deposit is forfeited. After June 17, 2026, no hotel refunds can be made.
     
  • In the unlikely event of conference cancellation by Symposia Medicus, full tuition and, if reservation was made with Symposia Medicus, hotel deposit refunds will be made. Symposia Medicus will not be responsible for refunding travel or any other expenses.
